Feb 20, 2017 — President Trump’s promise to crack down on people in this country illegally is sowing fear and confusion among immigrants across Upstate New York, including on the region’s dairy farms.
José Perez, an immigration attorney with offices in Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo, says his clients are horrified. “They are in panic. They are scared,” Perez says. “The number of calls that I have received every day, even from people who are U.S. citizens, they are calling me asking, ‘am I going to lose my U.S. citizenship?’ This is how it’s scary.”
